2016-2017 Mainstage Shows
FALL 2016
As You Like It By William Shakespeare Directed by Curt Foxworth Usurped of his throne by his brother, Duke Senior flees to the Forest of Arden. His brother allows his daughter, Rosalind, to remain at court with his own daughter, Celia. Rosalind falls in love with a young noble, Orlando, after he wins a public wrestling match. The current Duke has a change of heart and banishes Rosalind from court. She then flees to the Forest of Arden with Celia and Touchstone, the court jester. For her safety, Rosalind assumes the dress of a young man and takes the name Ganymede. After arriving in the forest, Rosalind quickly runs into the equally lovesick Orlando, who has also fled court. Tricked by the disguise, Orlando confides in Ganymede of his lovesickness. Rosalind, as Ganymede, promises to cure Orlando of his disease. Orlando agrees, and the love lessons begin. |
SPRING 2017
Stop Kiss By Diana Son Directed by Janet Quartarone Summary: Stop Kiss is the story of Callie and Sara, 2 Twenty-Somethings who meet, develop a friendship, find they fall in love – and then suffer a brutal, clearly hate-driven, attack. Sara is seriously injured, unresponsive in a hospital bed, and Callie struggles to choose what her place will be in Sara’s life moving forward. Told in a non-linear fashion, we see their growing bond and attraction and the aftermath of the attack. The play is honest, real, often funny. Their connection, and particularly Callie’s journey to discover and embrace Who She Is, transcend “just” a beautifully-written romance about two women, to become also an exploration of the path we all take as we grow into ourselves… |

All of our productions are proposed to and voted on by the membership. This year our Evening of One Acts will be produced in the spring, and our Murder Mystery will occur in the fall. Voting rights/qualifications are listed in the ACT Constitution.

FALL 2016
A Murder Most Foul Written & Directed by Kathleen Fox and Henry Albright On the opening night of a repertory Shakespeare festival where the actors are required to stay in character at all times due to their director's insanity, a performance of Hamlet is thrown into disarray when the titular actor is found dead. With no phone service in the Catskill Mountains, the stage manager must drive off to fetch the police, but in the meantime "Beatrice" and "Lady Macbeth" decide to conduct their own investigation and figure out who really killed the Prince of Denmark. Juggling a neurotic and incessantly dedicated director, misbehaving set pieces, and an enormous collective ego of the cast, the two detectives have to wonder: can they actually determine who killed Hamlet before they kill themselves out of pure frustration? |
